Simplement parfait! I wish I could like the two.
I wish I could SING like then
Thank you for posting this rare treasure! Act 1, s.1: 07:37 Act 1, s.2: 21:49 Hexenritt: 34:34 Act 2: 38:43 Act 3: 59:20
Dando continuidade o trabalhar a psicopatia
Not as good as Arnold Van Mill.
Very woofy. Not as good as Helge Rosvaenge.
I saw Curt Appelgren so many times at the Stockholm opera and the Drottningholm Court Theatre, always a great treat. A generous warm voice.
yes, and a great and intelligent actor! He is a great performer!
One of the worst Florestans I've ever heard.
nimm dir mal ein Beispiel am rap
Frauen tzz , heiß
Marzellina is so pregnant... Joaquino is right to be mad that she suddenly fancies Fidelio
BEAUTIFUL! I really have come to LOVE more lyrical, "leaner", Fidelios/Leonores such as Gundula Janowitz, Gabriella Benackova, and now Elisabeth Söderström, especially in this number, where for once, Leonore becomes Leonore herself, out of the Fidelio's disguise. Really quite moving to hear more lyrical and feminine, LESS screaming sopranos at this moment of the opera. Surprised to see her in this role, to be honest, but this is really quite a wonderful performance. Brava!
I also prefer "leaner" Leonores. Beethoven is not Wagner.
@@edwardamosbrandwein3583 Indeed! Beethoven is NOT Wagner. Neither is particularly my cup of tea, but Beethoven was a far superior “musician”, for sure.
@@vitellia That's a matter of personal taste
@@edwardamosbrandwein3583 Of course, just like our preference of leaner Leonores. I’m sure there are many out there who prefer Nilsson and Jones . <shudder> LOL
@@vitellia Yes
Sublime!
magnifique voix!!!
De Ridder was not a “ Heldentenor” he was a lyrical Tenor with spinto sound His high notes where never a problem His mid range was I worked with him many times in Munich He was great as Edgardo or as Duca I liked his voice a lot His Florestan was not bad at all in my oinion
He is so constricted!!!!
Lovely, young love, beethoven.. To feel wonderful... your heart sings
Die Musik schön, sehr schön
i am so lucky to have anton as my friend,,,,and always admired his beautiful tenor voice
Fantastiskt bra gjort, häxan är PERFEKT
thomas eriksson OCH mamman! ;)
nawwww x kram x Tack :)
beautiful tone and interpretation.. this is what I aim for this afternoon at my audition :)
i hope your audition went well! sorry im four years late haha
Etienne Laurent It is a clarinette, not a hautbois, and yes, it is sublime
bella interpretazione, bel timbro
a simple fugue...but the most beautiful 3 mins of music ever written...the genius of Beethoven
not a fugue.
@@kbs5525 it's a canon!
Hermosa! :) :)
Nice song indeed
So beautiful! She inspires me every time I watch this.
Mir ist so wunderbar...
@KatherineXIX; you are right, we stood apart, far from each other, in the production. We gathered together like this only once for this recording, because it would look good on TV. Wbw/Curt Appelgren (singing the part of Rocco in this production)
Her interpretation is absolutely brilliant! I love it!
took the guy a couple tries to get it right, but boyyyy he hit the nail right on the head the third or fourth time.
Absolutely beautiful! It makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up!
@KatherineXIX This is one of many stagings for this scene. In many of the stage adaptations actors pause where they are and sing the whole quartet in a statue like pose. Personally I think this staging still gets the point across without putting strain on the singers, (and it makes for handy camera closeups of the whole quartet).
Sehr Schon! Danke. Kevin
Interpretation is gr8 & all. But, the color of his voice & just sound is more character sounding that of Mime, Goro & Borsa:( He takes me out of the performance because it sounds like Mime singing! I prefer my Heldens 2B no lighter than Windgassen:) Good job on this aria though...but not a legit Heldentenor:(
Windgassen wasn't a heldentenor, by any means.
@@xxsaruman82xx87 that is very true!!!
i am afraid that was the problem in those days when you were in a "repertoire" theatre - you have to sing the roles the director gave to you in the seventies those situatiosn escalated in antwerp opera - a light tenor had to sing siegmund and parsifal - a lyric bariton had to sing Klingsor and Sebastiano in Tiefland - a light higher bas Osmin Florestan was done by a lyric tenor a few years ago at la scala - but is for sure not for Anton de Ridder however pointing Mime ( do not under estimate that role !!! ) , is very far , and Goro is a full comic role and Borsa a comprimaria what de Ridder was not at all.
@@sagaluke There aren't any heldentenors (or properly developed heldentenors) around anymore.
@johntosh00 I agree.
@fhebbert I totally agree with you.
To the staging criticism I say 'nonsense'. They are lost in thought, each reflecting on Marzelline's love for Fidelio (Leonora in disguise), and each with differing emotions - and it matters nothing where they stand. In criticising Peter Hall you are like the young Weber dismissing the mature Beethoven. The greatest composer ever of the most powerful opera ever.
My favorite piece from this opera.
Simplement parfaut.
Leporello: You are right. Your name brought me inmeaditly "Notte e giorno faticar" Gale sings Marzelline in the best way, and shows the Betthoven spirit. Excellent!!
can anyone post this with the audio and video synchronized? this is an amazing performance by an artist who is sorely missed.
@dermotafan Do you think she was a "dramatic soprano"? She was a famous Lieder singer, and did an amazing recording of "Incoronazione di Poppea" with Harnoncourt. Her interpretation here is so moving and human!
Yesterday, I performed the Beethoven Moonlight and Pathétique Sonata at our community concert fund raising. There is a REASON why people who study Beethoven simply call him "The Master." There are no words in any language that are "sufficient" for Beethoven. sanjosemike
ma kanta in playback??
No playback!
It is the best version which I was heard ! What an expression! A true happiness! <3<3
Wonderful
